Homestay Booking

Payments: Homestay booking related payments include Homestay placement, Stay guarantee, Security deposit and Payment processing

Move-in date: Move-in date is the beginning date of the homestay booking contract. Move-in date can be found on the finalized contract. Student indicates the move-in date when sending in a request to book a homestay

Trial week: The first week of the student staying at the homestay is the trial week. Trial week begins on the move-in date on the finalized contract, and ends at 23:59 EST on the move-in date indicated on the finalized contract + 6 days

Written termination notice: Student termination instruction and host termination instruction need to be followed in order for homadorma to validate the written termination notice and apply payment and refund accordingly. Homadorma is not able to validate the written termination notice if the termination was not issued according to the instruction on homadorma.com.


Unconfirmed booking cancellation

In the case the student pays to book the homestay before the host confirms the booking, the student has the option to cancel the booking. The security deposit, homestay placement and stay guarantee paid by the student in advance should be fully refunded to the student.

There is no refund or store credit in circumstances other than those listed above.


Termination before move-in date

Student initiated: In the case the student needs to terminate this agreement unilaterally before move-in date, the student must provide the host with a written termination notice. If less than 30-day termination notice is given, the security deposit paid in advance will be used to cover the homestay fee from the move-in date till 30 days after the termination notice date. The rest of the security deposit will be refunded to the student. If 30-day or more termination notice is given, the security deposit paid in advance will be fully refunded to the student.

Host initiated: In the case the host needs to terminate this agreement unilaterally before move-in date, the security deposit paid by student in advance should be fully refunded to the student. Host should be aware of the possible penalties applied. Please refer to I'm a host. I confirmed a student's booking of one of my room. What if I have to terminate the booking before the student moves in? Homestay placement fee could be turned into store credit which is redeemable on homadorma services upon the request of the student.

Visa rejection: The agreement will be terminated immediately, upon the circumstance that all following conditions are met. The homestay placement and stay guarantee could be turned into store credit which is redeemable on homadorma services upon the request of the student. The security deposit paid by the student in advance should be fully refunded to the student.

  1. The student received the visa rejection from the country where the homestay property is located after booking the homestay;
  2. The student received the visa rejection from the country where the homestay property is located before the check-in date;
  3. Homadorma received the copy of the letter of visa rejection from the country where the homestay property is located delivered by the student to Homadorma before the check-in date;
  4. Homadorma received the copy of the letter of visa rejection from the country where the homestay property is located delivered by the student to Homadorma within 60 days of the date indicated on the letter of visa rejection

Trial week termination

Student initiated: Student may terminate the homestay contract in trial week by providing the host with a written termination notice including a check-out date, which must be within 7 days of the date of notice. Homestay fee is prorated based on the number of nights the student spends in the host’s homestay. Homestay placement fee paid could be turned into store credit which is redeemable on homadorma services upon the request of the student.

Host initiated: Host may terminate the homestay contract in trial week by providing the student with a written termination notice including a check-out date, which must be more than 7 days from the date of notice. Homestay fee is prorated based on the number of nights the student spends in the host’s homestay. Homestay placement fee paid could be turned into store credit which is redeemable on homadorma services upon the request of the student.

Termination after trial week

Student initiated: In case the student needs to terminate this agreement unilaterally, the student must provide the host with a written termination notice including a check-out date. The homestay fee will continue be made for 30 days following the termination notice date, or up to the check-out date if the number of days from termination notice date to check-out date is more than 30 days.

Host initiated: In case the host needs to terminate this agreement unilaterally, the host must provide the student with a written termination notice including a suggested check-out date. The suggested check-out date must be at least 30 days after the termination notice date. The student has the option to check out on or before the suggested check-out date. The host is required to refund for every night on and after the check-out date the student does not spend in the homestay.

If both the host and the student would like to terminate the homestay agreement on the same date, the payment should be adjusted according to the check-out date.

Breach termination

If either the host or the student breaches any term of this agreement, the party who did not commit a breach may terminate this agreement by giving a 14-day written notice of termination.

After receiving the notice, the party in breach shall act promptly on the correction and rectify the breach in 14 days.

If the party in breach does not rectify the breach within 14 days, the agreement will be terminated on the expiry date of the notice.(“Termination Date”)


Force Majeure

Any event or circumstance beyond control shall be regarded as Force Majeure but not restricted to fire, wind, flood, earthquake, explosion, rebellion, epidemic, quarantine and segregation. In case either party that encounters Force Majeure fails to fulfill the obligation under the contract, the other party should extend the performance time by period equal to the time that Force Majeure will last.

If the Force Majeure last over 3 months, the two parties of the contract should settle the case of continuing the contract by friendly negotiation as soon as possible.
