My name is Olu and my wife’s name is Temi, we have 2 lively children (boys aged 6 and 8) and the four of us stay together in our warm home. We immigrated to Winnipeg from Nigeria in May 2015. We stay in a new, beautiful and quiet neighborhood. There is a children’s park, dog park and artificial lake opposite our house. The house is less than 5 minutes walking distance to the nearest bus stop and has buses going directly to downtown. The house is also in close proximity to Kildonan Place and other major stores on Regent Avenue like Costco, Walmart, Superstore. The neighborhood also has a bicycle trail and also a library not too far away. Our house is a detached house on two floors, with 3 bedrooms on the second floor and also a bedroom in the basement. The room available for the homestay is one of the rooms on the second floor or the room in the basement. The room on the second floor has a shared bathroom while the room in the basement has a private bathroom. Both rooms have its closet and there is access to internet. The laundry for the whole house is on the main floor. We eat and cook a variety of meals including our Nigerian food and we’re always open to try meals from other cultures/countries. The kitchen is available for you to cook if you want to prepare your food yourself and if you do not mind what we are eating; you can also each with us. For foreign students, it will be an opportunity for you and us to learn how to cook another country’s food. We usually go out during the weekends; the kids have some sporting activities, we go visiting friends, and sometime just find somewhere the family can enjoy the weekend and relax. We sometimes have friends visit us during the weekends and also go to church on Sundays. You are free to come along with us if interested. We are a warm, open and welcoming family and will like welcome another member to our family so we can spread our love and care and also get some love from the new member and learn new things from each other.
